Hand Washing and Musical Magic

Hand Washing Song
May12024

Are you still washing your hands several times a day for 20 seconds with hot water?  Probably so (at least, we hope so!).  Are you still singing a song to time yourself?

Probably not.

As you know, for a couple of weeks social media was ablaze with ways to make sure we were washing our hands long enough. The craze went viral: alternate songs you could sing, TV Show intros… you can even create your own meme for it, using your favorite song.  Most of us have a rhythm now and don’t sing the song—but while we are in the groove the music is still working, even though we don’t consciously belt out “Happy Birthday” while we do it.

Here at Chime In, we often say that music is magical—it helps us to learn, to connect, to match up the individuals with the team.  The tempo, rhythm and bonds that could have taken weeks or even months to sort out, we help you create in an afternoon.  And your team has fun at the same time!

So when we say your team needs to Chime In, we’re not saying you should constantly be making music at your desk.  We’re saying that (like the hand-washing song) we can help you get into a rhythm, get connected, start “rowing in the same direction.”  Even when you’re not thinking about the music any more, it’s still working!

And yes, we will still ask you to wash your hands before your Chime In exercise!

Stay safe out there.
